Privacy Policy
Last updated: 10 August 2026

This policy explains what personal information AceUpStudy collects, why we collect it, and what rights you have over it. We have tried to write it in plain English rather than legal jargon.

1. Who we are

AceUpStudy sells digital revision resources for GCSE and A-Level students. We are the data controller for the information described in this policy, which means we decide how and why it is used.

Trading name: AceUpStudy
Contact email: aceupstudy@gmail.com
Based in England, operating online only. Our postal address is available on request.

2. What we collect

Depending on how you use our site, we may collect:

- Your details - name, email address and billing address when you place an order
- Order information - what you bought, when, how much you paid, and your order history
- Account information - your email and the resources in your library, if you create an account
- Messages - anything you send us by email or social media, and our replies
- Technical information - your IP address, browser, device type and how you move around the site
- Marketing preferences - whether you have opted in to emails, and whether you open them

We do not see or store your card details. Payments are handled by Shopify and its payment providers, who process card data directly.

3. Why we use it, and our legal basis

UK data protection law requires us to have a valid reason for using your information. Ours are:

- To fulfil your order - sending your download links, giving you access to your library, and providing support. Basis: performance of our contract with you.
- To answer your questions - responding to emails and messages. Basis: our legitimate interest in running a responsive business.
- To keep records - retaining order and payment records as required. Basis: legal obligation.
- To protect our content - detecting fraud and unauthorised sharing of purchased materials. Basis: our legitimate interest in protecting our business.
- To improve the site - understanding which resources are popular and where people get stuck. Basis: our legitimate interest, or your consent where analytics cookies are used.
- To send marketing emails - only where you have opted in, or where you have bought from us and we are telling you about similar resources. Basis: your consent, or our legitimate interest in the case of existing customers. You can opt out at any time.

4. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the services that make our shop work:

- Shopify - hosts our store and processes orders
- Payment providers - Shopify Payments, PayPal and similar, to take payment securely
- Digital delivery apps - to send your download links and host your file library
- Email providers - to send order confirmations and, if you have opted in, marketing emails
- Analytics providers - to give us anonymised or aggregated information about site usage

We may also disclose information where we are legally required to do so, or to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

5. Where your information is held

Some of our providers, including Shopify, store data outside the UK. Where information is transferred abroad, it is protected by appropriate safeguards such as UK International Data Transfer Agreements, Standard Contractual Clauses, or a finding that the destination country offers adequate protection.

6. How long we keep it

- Order and payment records - six years, as required for tax and accounting purposes
- Account details - for as long as your account is open, so you can access what you have bought
- Emails and support messages - up to two years after your query is resolved
- Marketing preferences - until you unsubscribe, plus a record of your opt-out so we do not contact you again

7. Your rights

You have the right to:

- Ask what personal information we hold about you, and get a copy
- Have inaccurate information corrected
- Ask us to delete your information, where there is no ongoing reason for us to keep it
- Ask us to restrict how we use it, or object to us using it
- Receive your information in a portable format, or have it sent to another provider
- Withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent
- Opt out of marketing at any time

To exercise any of these, email aceupstudy@gmail.com. We will respond within one month. We may need to confirm your identity first, which usually just means replying from the email address you ordered with.

Please note that deleting your account may mean you lose access to resources you have purchased.

8. Students and young people

Many of our customers are school-age. We do not knowingly ask for more information than we need, and we do not use profiling or targeted advertising aimed specifically at children.

If you are under 13, please ask a parent or guardian to make any purchase and to contact us on your behalf about your information. If you are a parent or guardian and believe we hold information about your child that you would like removed, email us and we will deal with it promptly.

9. Cookies

Our site uses cookies and similar technologies. Some are essential - they keep your basket working and let you log in. Others help us understand how the site is used, or support marketing, and these are only used where you have agreed.

You can manage cookies through your browser settings, and through any cookie banner shown on our site. Blocking essential cookies may stop parts of the site working.

10. Marketing emails

We only send marketing emails to people who have opted in, or to existing customers about resources similar to those they have already bought. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can also email us to opt out. Unsubscribing does not stop order confirmations or download links, which are part of fulfilling your purchase.

11. Keeping your information safe

Our store runs on Shopify, which provides encryption in transit and secure hosting. We limit access to personal information to those who need it. No system is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information and will tell you and the regulator about any breach where the law requires it.

12. Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please email us first and we will try to put it right.

You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK regulator for data protection, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed. Where changes are significant, we will make that clear on the site.
